- No incidents.
- No improvisation.
- No shortcuts that later harm people or processes.
Safety in logistics: what it really looks like
When people talk about safety, they often think of major initiatives or far-reaching measures. In reality, incidents are often prevented by things that almost go unnoticed:
- a checklist that is actually used
- a process that is followed, even when no one is watching
- pausing briefly before a task that has already been done “a thousand times”
Safety, every day – physical and human
In our HUB and on site, safety takes on a very tangible meaning.
It starts with working safely around the sorter, supported by clear instructions and training that give people confidence. Safety is also constantly present in and around the HUB, including through a clear traffic plan that ensures structure and calm.
In addition, we invest deliberately in training: first aid, material handling equipment, BA4, language courses… Not because we have to, but because people feel more confident when they know what they are doing. And people who feel confident work more safely.
➡️ In conversation with Lore De Bondt – Prevention Adviser
Lore, who are you?
“I have a background in tourism and started at Colis Privé as a management assistant. From there, I progressed into purchasing, facilities and safety — mainly driven by my own interest. In 2025, I obtained my Level 2 prevention adviser qualification.”
Why did you choose Colis Privé?
“Because it is a fast-growing company, but with a very close-knit group of people. We are not a large, slow-moving organisation. On the contrary, you really feel here that everyone’s contribution matters and that you can make a real impact. That gives energy.”
Why is safety so important to you?
“Feeling safe brings peace of mind. It allows you to work with confidence and go home feeling reassured. That is something I wish for everyone. For me, safety is not just about rules; it is mainly about taking care of one another.”
What does your role involve exactly?
“I source and purchase products, always paying attention to necessity, cost and safety. In addition, as a prevention adviser, I handle all the administrative follow-up and carry out site walks to address unsafe situations proactively rather than having to fix things afterwards.
I also ensure that the building and the entire site remain in good condition. I do this together with the transport and HUB teams, because their experience and input are essential to making the right decisions.”
What has already been achieved this year?
“A major step this year was the renewal of the MHE-fleet. All new machines are fitted with additional safety features, such as blue spot lights for better visibility, a badge system to prevent misuse, and fixed start-up checklists.
These may seem like small details on paper, but on the work floor they really make a difference. They show that safety at Colis Privé is not a separate topic, but fully integrated into the way we work every day.”
Where do you see yourself and Colis Privé in the future?
“Simply continuing to build together. In 10, 15, 20 years… and preferably for many years beyond that 😉.”
Together, we make the difference
The World Day for Safety and Health at Work is a moment to pause and reflect on safety.
At Colis Privé, it is something that lives every day.
A safe operation is a predictable operation. And predictability is one of the most underestimated strengths in logistics.
By taking responsibility together — for processes, for one another, and for the way we work together — we make the difference.
Because in the end, it really is that simple:
safety is everyone’s job.
